  8. v45.1 of a (very simple) AmigaDOS based System Help Command!

  10. This is a AmigaDOS script where all you do is type:

  12. Help <keyword>
  13.  
  14. <keyword> can be anything. It can be the exact name of a AmigaDOS command,
  15. the exact name of a WB tool/prefs/util.
  16. It can be the exact name of a program on your system.
  17.  
  18. If Help is unable to locate the document,
  19. it will try and find help documents/guides/files that has almost
  20. the same name as the keyword you gave.
  21. You will be shown a list of matches!
  22. Or if this fails, Help will search inside ALL your help documents etc.
  23. You will be shown a list of the documentnames where the keyword
  24. was found.

  30. To view the document :D

  32. To use Help just copy it to the C: directory.
  33. Make sure that the S (script) bit/flag is set
  34. or help will not be able to run!

  36. You don't need a AmigaDOS window up.
  37. You can run Help from the WB Execute menu as well.

  39. Note!
  40. Included in this archive is a locale drawer with several .doc files.
  41. If you want to, you can copy these to your help:(language)/sys drawer.
  42. Help will then check these files each time you use HELP.
  43. In fact each time a document is added to the help: dirs,
  44. the HELP command will use them in it's searches.

  46. Hopefully the AmigaOS Find tool will be updated to similar features
  47. as Help. or maybe a new/improved Help command/tool.

  49. When the new Workbench online help guides is finished (hopefully soon)
  50. and they are placed in HELP: this nice little Help command
  51. Will benefit from that, or rather, YOU will benefit from this.

  53. This software is freeware. No warranties of any kind.

  55. Amiga Corp. have my special permission to include it in future releases,
  56. as do Amiga Active Magazine and Aminet...
  57.  
  58. People are free to modify/improve this script,
  59. but only as long as it functions as a complete replacement
  60. of the current Help command.
  61. And it naturally must be released to the Amiga community as freeware,
  62. and submitted to Aminet and Amiga Corp. as well.
